Since 2001, SKM has provided electrical, instrumentation and controls design at the plant. SKM did a SCADA system evaluation and implemented the improvements. This included new PLCs and touch screens adding local monitoring and control to the system. New screens were developed for the existing HMI and reporting tools were created. SKM continues to provide ongoing maintenance and support, including electrical design for upgrading the incoming power, PLC modifications and 3D graphics for the touch screens and HMI. The SKM team gives on-going support for upgrades throughout the plant.
In 2007 SKM joined with MWH and performed the Instrumentation and Controls Engineering for a new activated sludge plant that is currently being constructed adjacent to the existing plant. SKM is currently providing construction management services for the project and is also acting as the Systems Integrator. SKM will be providing 19 PLC panels as well as network cabinets. As the Systems Integrator, SKM will program the PLCs and the HMIs throughout the plant as well as seamlessly integrate the new plant with the existing plant.
With a dated telemetry system becoming unreliable, the City of Snowbird requested that SKM provide an upgrade to the system that would be reliable and that would add additional monitoring and control.
The upgrade included new PLCs and radios with the addition of touch screens and a new computer with the latest technology in Human Machine Interface. SKM is currently under maintenance contract with Salt Lake Service Area 3 and have been providing services to the service area for over eight years.
